Snow falling in area

Woodward, Okla. — Light to moderate snow mixed with some rain is falling in Woodward during the morning hours.

So far, the roads in Woodward proper are just went and the temperature remains above freezing.

Still, caution is needed while driving in town, and especially if you are going north. Snow and wind that is expected to pick up could make visibility an issue.

Snow is heavier to the north and east of Woodward. Several schools in Woods and Alfalfa County have cancelled classes for the day, along with a number of schools in southwest and south central Kansas.

And, Northwestern Oklahoma State University announced Wednesday morning that all 3 of its campuses would be closed due to the weather.

The heaviest snow is expected in Kansas and possibly far northern Oklahoma.

The forecast in Woodward is for snow to continue overnighton Wednesday and into Thursday morning.
