Rezoning request approved

Woodward, Okla. — A public hearing was held at Tuesday's Woodward County Commission meeting concerning a request from R&L Financial Solutions for the rezoning of a tract of land southeast of town.

R&L Financial Solutions wanted to rezone a quarter section located a few miles southeast of the Highway 270 and Highway 34 junction from general agriculture to general industrial.

No one present at the meeting spoke against the request.

District 3 Commissioner Vernie Matt said, "Since there are no complaints, I motion we change it from an A-1 general agriculture district to a I-2 general industrial district."

The commissioners tabled an item for them to sign financing documents on a new fire truck for the county because truck won't be in until later this week.

"We'll have to table it for now because the fire truck won't be in until Thursday so we can't take possession of it and start paperwork until the next meeting," County Clerk Charolette Waggoner said

Sheriff Gary Stanley presented the monthly jail reports from November and December 2012.

Stanley said jail capacity had been running around the low 90s in inmates for the majority of the time. Stanley also said the county had been holding 1 or 2 inmates from Dewey County while that jail underwent renovations.

Chamber of Commerce President CJ Montgomery made an appearance during the unforeseen business portion of the meeting to congratulate the commissioners on newly approved fairgrounds renovation plans.

"When its all finished we'll have something we can really be proud of," Montgomery said.

Montgomery said construction on the project is expected to start around late summer or early fall.

The county commissioners also approved a correction on a utility permit request from Glass Mountain Pipeline, LLC in the southwest part of the county.

"The original utility permit was in the northwest corner of the land and it needs to be in the northeast corner," Waggoner explained.

A district 2 pipeline crossing in the southeast part of the county was approved as well.

District 2 commissioner Randy Johnson said, "This is in regards to a farmer out there wanting to run natural gas to his irrigation pump. I recommend we approve."
