Woodward County commissioners approved several bids during their regular meeting on Monday, Feb 4.
Acting on a recommendation from the board for the Northwest Oklahoma Solid Waste Disposal Authority, the commissioners accepted a bid in the amount $99,889.98 from Medley Material Handling out of Oklahoma City for a 2013 Omega 44236 forklift to be used at the landfill.
District 2 Commissioner Vernie Matt explained that the 2013 Omega met the standards required by the landfill board, and that the bids for other equipment increased in price when adjusted to meet the required standards. As such the landfill board felt the 2013 Omega forklift was the best bid, and the commissioners honored that decision.
The county board also accepted all 5 bids for road materials and 2 bids for tires for all highway districts according to availability of the materials.
In addition, the commissioners approved calling for bids for a project overlaying county road NS-203 from EW-51 to EW-48 and from EW-43 to EW-42. The project is anticipated to cost an estimated $1.5 million pending what bids are received.
County Clerk Charolett Waggoner said the project will be along 8th Street south of Woodward city limits. "The first mile is a mile south of Hanks Trail, and they'll do that asphalt overlay there," Waggoner said. "Then it'll skip 5 miles and they'll do the overlay from the Sharon-Shattuck road 3 miles north."
In other action, a public hearing was scheduled for a rezoning request from R&L Financial Solutions LLC for changing a tract of land southeast of town from agricultural to industrial. The public hearing will be held during the county commission's regular meeting on Feb. 19.
"The want to erect a welding shop on the property," Waggoner said about the reason that R&L Financial Solutions has requested the zoning change.
Commissioners also approved blanket purchase orders and a resolution determining maximum monthly highway expenditures for February in the amount of $286,330.26.
