City commission handles several routine items

Woodward, Okla. — In what was the first city commission meeting of the year on Monday night, commissioners tended to a list of mostly routine requirements that mark the beginning of the year.

In the consent docket, commissioners approved several new year housekeeping details such as the reappointment of Stub Dezort for another three year term to the Woodward Senior Citizen's Center Board.

Also contained in the same docket was the reappointment of Mike Hensal and James Cline to the Airport Authority.

Commissioners voted to adopt a resolution giving notice to the Secretary of Woodward County Election Board of the plans for a municipal election on April 1, 2014.

The election will be for Ward 2, held by Gary Goetzinger, Ward 3 held by John Meinders and the At Large position held by Steve Bogdahn.

Commissioners renewed the franchise agreement with Classic Cable Inc., also known as Suddenlink. The 10-year renewal grants Classic Cable the ability to operate in the City of Woodward as a utility. The agreement also set out, as is customary, that Suddenlink will pay five percent of gross proceeds to the City of Woodward as a franchise fee.

City commissioners approved an agreement for engineering services between the City of Woodward and H.W. Lochner, Inc., for planned improvements to West Woodward Regional Airport.

After adjourning the commission meeting, commissioners/trustees took up the meeting for the Woodward Municipal Authority.

Trustees also checked routine requirements off the list with the approval of water line permitting for the Phase III of the Southfork Housing Addition being constructed at present.
