Area churches plan Easter events

Woodward, Okla. — Several area churches have a number of upcoming events scheduled in celebration of Easter.

Woodward's First Assembly of God will be holding its Annual Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 30. Festivities will last from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and include an Easter Egg hunt for 2- to 10-year-olds, face painting, hot dogs and popcorn, a petting zoo, a guest appearance by the Woodward Fire Department in their fire truck and the AirEvac team in their helicopter, as well as inflatable obstacle course, moon bounce, and slide. The Easter Bunny will also be available for pictures with children.

Several prizes will be given away during the Eggstravaganza, including 6 bicycles, 2 scooters, and several Easter baskets stuffed with prizes such as giant candy bars. There will also be bags of candy provided for all the children in attendance.

Event organizers encourage families to arrive early as the Eggstravaganza can be quite popular. The church is located at 3906 Lakeview Dr.

Free Will Baptist Church in Woodward will also be holding its Easter Blowout on March 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include carnival type games, a bouncy house, an egg hunt , and a hot dog lunch. Several prizes will also be given away during the event including bicycles, candy, movie passes, and a digital camera. The church is located at 1010 40th St. down the street from Walls.

1000 Hills Ranch Church will be holding a cowboy styled gathering on their new 30 acre property 2 miles south of Hanks Trail on 8th Street. The event takes place on Easter Sunday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m. and will include a service, a chuck wagon feed, an egg hunt for the children, and the church band providing music. To keep up the cowboy theme visitors will be greeted on horseback. Those who wish to do so are invited to bring side dishes or a desert for the meal. The whole community is welcome.

Mooreland Methodist will be hosting a community wide Easter egg hunt at the Mooreland Park on March 30 starting at 2 p.m. The Mooreland church will also have an Easter Sunrise Service on March 31 at 7 a.m. to be held at Boiling Springs State park followed by an Easter Cantata at 10:50 a.m. located at the church on 302 S. Elm in Mooreland.

The First Christian Church of Woodward will be holding a Good Friday Service at 7 p.m. on March 29 at their church located at 9th St. and Oklahoma Ave.

First United Methodist of Woodward will be hosting a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. on March 28 at the church building at 1111 Downs Ave.  The church's youth group will then host a sunrise service on Easter Sunday. The sunrise service will take place at 7 a.m. on March 31 at Crystal Beach Park.

Crown Heights Baptist 's Easter sunrise service will convene at 8 a.m. on March 31, followed by Easter Cantata at 10:45 a.m. The church is located at 2803 Maple Ave. in Woodward.
