Woodward, Okla. —
Woodward City Commissioners will address issues relating to the construction of the new softball complex during their meeting Monday night.
The regular commission meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in City Hall.
Commissioners will vote on bids for construction of the softball fields, based on recommendations from the project's construction management firm Timberlake Construction. Information about the submitted bids or their amounts was not included in the media's agenda packet.
The city board will also act on a proposal from Shawnee Lighting Systems to install an electrical box and lights for the field. According to information in the agenda packet, the company has given the city a sales quote of $48,000 for the installation of the lighting power cabinet and another $661,000 for a MUSCO Light Structure Green (LSG) lighting system.
In other business Monday, the commission will hold a public hearing regarding a request from Downs Partnership to rezone a property located in the approximately 300 block of Downs Ave. After the public hearing, the commissioners will vote on whether to approve the request.
Downs Partnership has requested to rezone the property from R-1 Single Family Dwelling District to a C-2 General Commercial District.
However, in it's submitted rezoning request, Downs Partnership didn't specify an intended use for the property other than "commercial use" should it be rezoned.
There has been at least one protest submitted on behalf of some of the neighboring property owners who feel the commercial rezoning would diminish the value of their residential properties.
Other items on Monday's city agenda include an amendment to the city's management agreement with K&T Catering, LLC, which would allow K&T to utilize Crystal Beach Lake and boat dock on the west side of the lake so it may rent out paddle boats to the public. In return for the use of the lake and dock, the amendment states that K&T will pay the city 10 percent of its gross receipts from the paddle boat rentals.
City leaders will also address a proposal for a 2-year agricultural land lease at West Woodward Airport. The land in question is known as Tract #2 and includes 40 acres.
According to the agenda packet, only one lease proposal was received, being submitted by the current lessee Leon Ramirez at a rate of $5 per acre, which is equal to $200 a year.
