Woodward, Okla. — The Woodward Convention and Visitors Bureau Committee met briefly Friday to discuss Woodward Conference Center events.

Executive Director of Tourism and Conventions James Curtiss opened the meeting saying the Conference Center's event goal was to host an average of 20 events a month. Curtiss said despite setbacks from the recent blizzard, they had been able to maintain that goal and should be back on schedule by April.

He said there are 189 events scheduled for the conference center at this time.

Curtiss also discussed the possibility of hiring additional staff with event planning experience sometime in the near future to help meet the demands placed on the facility.

He also discussed the recent purchase of 4 sets of K12 speakers, 2 new spotlights, and several new advanced microphones that he felt would greatly add to the capabilities of the center.

"We want to exceed expectations in all levels, whether that be lights, sound, performance, or service," said Curtiss.

Assistant Director of Tourism and Public Relations Debbie Hickman said the tourism site GoWoodward.com was experiencing success receiving thousands of visits.

Hickman said Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb, would be holding a conference at the center sometime this summer, though a date had yet to be chosen.

Hickman said with current events lined up and the increasing popularity, they could expect the conference center to stay busy for years to come.
