Hard freeze likely

Woodward, Okla. — A hard freeze is expected Friday night through Saturday morning for Northwest Oklahoma as overnight temperatures could reach as low as 22 degrees, according to Woodward County Emergency Manager Matt Lehenbauer.

A hard freeze is when temperatures are at or below 28 degrees, Lehenbauer said.

"To prepare people should disconnect hoses, open cabinets to avoid pipes from freezing and have those areas heated," he said.

He said that this freeze will be a blessing for those suffering from allergies, for it should kill most of the insects and other allergy related plants.

"People should also bring in any sensitive plants or vegetation that they want to keep," Lehenbauer said.

He said that area temperatures should rebound a little after this weekend, but will still remain somewhat cooler next week with lows around the 50 degree mark.
