Woodward, Okla. —
Woodward County Commissioners will hold a public hearing over a rezoning request during their regular meeting at 10 a.m. Monday in the county courthouse.
The property up for rezoning is a 3-acre tract of land located near the intersection of US Highway 270 and State Highway 34 southeast of Woodward.
The property owners, AJ Property Investments, LLC, told the county commissioners last week that they have been approached several times about the purchase of this land for the use in the oil field.
However, the land must first be rezoned from a C-2 general commercial district to an I-2 general industrial district.
After the public hearing, the county board is slated to vote on whether to approve the rezoning.
The commissioners are also slated to continue their discussion on possibly change the county employee health insurance plan in order to provide employees with more options and potentially save the county some insurance costs.
The issue was tabled last week to allow for further review on the matter as well as to allow District 2 Commissioner Ted Craighead, who was unable to attend last week, an opportunity to weigh in with his opinion.
Other county agenda items include a lease purchase agreement for a new 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe for the sheriff's office and a request from the Wheeler Energy for a utility permit for a pipeline crossing on a District #2 roadway in the southwest part of the county.
