For the 22nd year in a row, Woodward’s letter carriers will take part in a “Stamp Out Hunger,” program.
On Saturday (May 10), residents can leave nonperishable food donations by their mailboxes and the letter carriers will pick up the donations as they drop off the mail.
This is part of the regional food bank’s “Feeding Hope and Letter Carriers’ Food Drive.”
A hamper will also be set up at the post office so residents who use a post office box can donate that way, Tommy Heath, the local coordinator, said.
In addition, monetary donations can be made online at regionalfoodbank.org or by calling 405-600-3131.
The food drive includes a large number of cities in western and central Oklahoma, said Angela Gaines with the regional food bank of Oklahoma.
Groups that will benefit from the food drive include the Woodward Community Pantry, Living Word Fellowship’s food distribution program, Western Plains Youth & Family Services and Northwest Domestic Crisis Services and others.
Some other participating area communities include Beaver, Buffalo and Mooreland.
