One race develops for county commissioner

Woodward County will have at least one race on the ballot in November.

Democrat Monte Hepner filed for the District 1 county commission seat on Thursday.

Hepner is challenging incumbent Republican Tommy Roedell.

Only incumbents have filed in the other county races up this year.

Vernie Matt is currently unopposed for County Commissioner in District 3 as are County Assessor Mistie Dunn and County Treasurer Sonya Coleman.

The filing period runs through 5 p.m. today

In some other races, Third District U. S. Rep. Frank Lucas, R-Cheyenne, now has 2 opponents both Republicans. Robert Hubbard of Yukon and Ray Murphy of Moore both filed on Thursday.

Also Oklahoma Speaker of the House Jeff Hickman filed for another term in District 58.

In the open District 61 seat, there are now 4 Republicans running to replace Gus Blackwell. They are Larry Swager, Casey Murdock, Steve Moore and Kenny Bob Tapp.

Justin P. Eilers of Mooreland filed for District 4 Judge, Office No. 1 on Thursday.
