Additional communities have announced their 4th of July celebration schedules.
The communities of Shattuck and Vici have a number of family fun events planned for our nation's birthday on Thursday.
The Shattuck Chamber of Commerce has a busy day planned for the "Shattuck Firemen's Fourth," starting with the FFA Color Run at 8 a.m. and the bike races at 10 a.m. Both events will be held at the walking trails.
Then there will be a variety of fun kids' contests and games in the park starting at 11 a.m., including a toddler sand dig for children 4 and under at noon.
The cheer moms will hold a hot dog and hamburger lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The fun will continue with a "Flip 'n' Dive Contest" at the city pool at 1 p.m. along with free swim until 6 p.m., sponsored by the Town of Shattuck.
At 2 p.m., registration will open for the turtle races, which will begin at 2:30 p.m.
The contests will continue with a hot dog eating contest for all ages at 3:30 p.m.
All ages can then enjoy a variety of carnival games starting at 4 p.m., including a dunk tank, bounce house and face painting.
The Shattuck firemen will then offer a barbecue dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A variety of entertainment will be offered to accompany the meal, including pageants for young girls and boys at 5 p.m. and the Shattuck's Got Talent show at 6 p.m.
Other events throughout the day will include a performance by the Rhythm Alley dancers, FFA Duck Races, an AirEvac helicopter fly over, free sno cones, a TSA raffle drawing, performances by the All Stars Cheer & Dance campers, and a photo booth.
The evening will conclude with the fireworks show at dark at Indian Field.
