Woodward, Okla. —
Election day for the municipal election in Woodward is Tuesday, April 2, but early voting is also available today (Friday) and on Monday April 1, said election board officials.
Voters who want to cast early votes can do so at the election board office in the basement of the county courthouse, said Carol Carrell, election board secretary.
A 2-member bipartisan absentee voting board will be on duty from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Monday, Carrell said.
On Tuesday, regular polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There is only one city commission race on the ballot with incumbent commissioner Michelle Williamson facing Larry Brittain. Mayor Roscoe Hill was unopposed in the other race this election cycle.
"In-person absentee voters fill out an application form when they get to the office," Carrell said. "They are not required to give a reason for voting absentee.
"They are required to swear that they have not voted a regular mail absentee ballot and that they will not vote at their regular polling place on election day."
The absentee voting board will verify a voter's registration and proof of identity information, then issue the ballot. The voter will then mark the ballot in a voting booth and put them in the voting device just as one would on election day.
