Snow comes to Northwest Oklahoma

Woodward, Okla. — Snow fell in Woodward throughout the afternoon on Saturday, causing occasional traffic issues.

At least one rollover accident was reported south of Woodward in the afternoon and there were a couple of minor accidents in town as well.

In addition, in its 5:30 p.m. roads report, the Department of Transportation said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol has closed State Highway 3 between Seiling and Guymon (that is also U. S. Highway 270 to the north and U. S. Highway 412 to the west.) Interstate 40 in the Weatherford area was also closed Saturday night due to several accidents.

The OHP planned to close the highway until visibility improves as blowing snow was causing issues.

Travel was being discouraged throughout Northwest Oklahoma.

Two to three inches of snow had fallen in the Woodward area by evening with the possibility of some more light snow later.

The bulk of the winter weather hit first in the Oklahoma City metro area and across north central and southern Oklahoma.

Things were expected to clear up at least a little bit on Sunday.
