Woodward, Okla. — Commissioners met on Tuesday to consider bids for generators local fire stations and new equipment for the Sharon fire crew.

Bids from 4 different companies were submitted for the Woodward County Fire Department's request for five 20 kilowatt standby generators to be used in the case of a power outage. The commissioners decided to table the bids so that the Woodward Fire Chief could have an opportunity to look over the spec sheets.

The commissioners did however take action on the high pressure self contained units, deciding on the bid of $27,061.80 from Wayest Safety, the units which Sharon fire department preferred.

Also approved during the meeting was the Surface Transportation Project for 2017 which calls for an overlay of 3 to 4 inches of hot asphalt for about 3.25 miles on EEW54 east of Mutual.

District 2 Commissioner Ted Craighead said, "We'll go ahead and move forward on the project. It will be a long process, but this will put the project on the list."

The disposal of obsolete highway equipment from the district 2 inventory was approved as well.

"We'll just be getting rid of some old worn out equipment that ought to have been disposed of already," Craighead said.

Commissioners heard a request for the closure of the west .2 miles of district 1 county road EW28 from Darrel Miler, the man who owns the land on either side of the road.

"The road is a dead end, we just want to move the .2 miles so we can move the cattle gate which will help us get them out of the canyons easier," Miller said.

The board scheduled the request for a public hearing on Nov 26.

District 1 Commissioner Tommy Roedell said, "We don't expect any problems with the request, this is just the process we go through."

Other items approved included the closeout documentation for the Northwest Domestic Crisis Services' 2012 grant  and a contract for services between Woodward County Assessor's Office and Visual Lease Services, Inc.
