Fort Supply hit by vandalism

Michelle Seeber

Fort Supply Police Chief Joe Cox wants to know the identity of two suspects who kicked in a door at his house and vandalized a trailer home, causing the family who lived in it move to a safer location.

A woman in the community thinks her ex-husband may be involved, Cox said.

He would not release the names of the other victims or the location of the trailer home.

“It started Oct. 27,” he said, when “two men in black hoodies and dark pants took hammers and hit the sides of (the) trailer while the residents were inside. They tried to come in the house, but a neighbor came out to see what was going on and they left.”

The residents of the trailer had also been receiving harassing phone calls, he said.

After Cox went to the scene and helped the family, a cinder block was thrown against his house.

“If it had been thrown higher, it would have come through the window and landed on my son,” he said.

Cox said the cinder block incident occurred in the early morning hours of Oct. 28.

He said he thinks it was done in retaliation for going to the scene of the trailer.

Later, when Cox’s family was gone and no one was home, his front door was kicked in, he said.

In addition, he said, the house next door to his was broken into.

Cox said he has an idea who the perpetrators may be, and that they live outside Woodward County.

He said authorities are looking for two men for questioning.

The Woodward County Sheriff’s Office, and police from Canton, Seiling and Dewy and Blaine counties are assisting in the investigation, he said.

“It was a very radical weekend last week,” he said.
