Rezoning to be focus of meeting

Rowynn Ricks

The Woodward City Commissioners will consider a couple of contentious rezoning requests during their regular meeting Monday evening.

Requests to rezone tracts of land and/or properties in the 400 block of Oklahoma Ave., the 1300 block of 15th St. and the 1300 block of Hillcrest from residential districts to commercial districts have already brought about a number of protests through the form of letters and petitions. A public hearing will be held prior to the commissioners’ vote on the rezoning requests to allow for any additional protests as well as arguments in favor of the rezoning measures.

In addition to these property issues, the city commissioners will also consider a third property issue as an ordinance has been proposed to allow the owners of The Heights Addition to vacate their plat.

In other business, the city commissioners are slated to receive the monthly report from Accurate Environmental Services, to adopt an updated personnel policy manual for city employees, and to consider a resolution establishing compliance with Federal Trade Commission laws by developing an identity theft program for the city.

The Woodward City Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the City Commission Room of City Hall.

Woodward County Commissioners are slated to consider assistance options for recent flood damage in Woodward County during their regular meeting Monday morning.

Stanley Irving, representative for the Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS), will be on hand at the meeting to discuss how the NRCS can help the county with its flood damage assistance needs through its Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) program.

In other business, the county commissioners will handle a few routine items including monthly county officer reports, monthly highway expenditure resolution and a utility permit for a pipeline crossing.

The Woodward County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday in the Woodward County Courthouse.
