Round-up Sunday set in Sharon church

The parents of World Champion Bull Rider Lane Frost will speak about their son and how he found Jesus on Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Sharon.

The second annual “Round-Up Sunday” will host Elsie and Clyde Frost during church services that begin at 11 a.m.

Elsie and Clyde Frost will tell about their son’s life.

“We all think we’re going to live until we’re 100 and Lane found Jesus only about a year and a half before he died,” said Elsie Frost.

Lane was a professional bull rider and rodeo cowboy who was killed by a bull named “Takin’ Care of Business,” while competing at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo in 1989.

According to lanefrost.com, he competed in rodeo events almost all his life. Lane was raised in Utah until 1978 when his family moved to Lane, Oklahoma where his parents still live today.

His long list of rodeo accomplishments include winning the 1987 World Championship in Bull Riding, and being the only bull rider to ever ride the famous bull ‘Red Rock’ for eight seconds.

The movie “8 Seconds,” was based on Lane’s life. Elsie Frost said, “The movie didn’t tell about his salvation. That was the most important thing I wanted people to know.” She added, “I pray they’ll be one person in the audience that God will touch, and their heart accepts Jesus as their savior.”

Beau Hague is the pastor at the First Baptist Church in Sharon. He said he admires Lane Frost and that he knows many people in Northwest Oklahoma do as well. He met Elsie and Clyde Frost at the OKC stockyards, and then asked them if they would come and speak about Lane’s life.

Everyone is invited to Sunday School that begins at 10 a.m. Following the 11 a.m. service people will go outside to enjoy a free lunch with all the fixin’s. “Chain Ranch Longhorns will be there, and they’ll be plenty of games for the children,” said Hague.

“This is a great opportunity to bring more people to the church and introduce people who have maybe never been,” said Hague. He added, “Our church is relaxed. People wear their cowboy hats every Sunday.”

The church is located eight miles South of Woodward on State Highway 34.
