It's time for Fairview Rodeo

Rowynn Ricks

The Woodward Elks Rodeo may be over, but rodeo season is just beginning for area communities.

The next rodeo in this season’s line up is Fairview’s 44th Annual Wrangler Rodeo, which is set for this weekend.

Events at Fairview kick off on Thursday with a kids pet parade at 10:30 a.m. The parade will assemble at Vinton Baker Ford at 10 a.m.

Rodeo princess and queen contests will then be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, but the winners will not be announced until Friday evening.

Prior to rodeo events, which will begin at 8 on Friday and Saturday nights, calf scrambles will be held for kids aged six- to 12-years-old.

The rodeo parade is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday and will assemble at the Fairview Rodeo Grounds beginning at 10 a.m.

Then following the rodeo on Saturday evening, Whiskey Moon will perform for the rodeo dance to be held at the Major County Fair Building from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Events in this year’s Wrangler Rodeo include bareback bronc, calf roping, breakaway roping, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, girls barrel racing, team roping and bull riding.

For more information about any rodeo events, contact Joe Johnson at (580) 744-0438 or Bradeon Ryel at (580) 542-3208. E-mail inquiries may be sent to fairviewwranglers@hotmail.com.
