Since we are talking about high school basketball, let’s respond to Mrs. Leppke’s letter from yesterday.  I don’t know how many basketball games you have attended, but I have been to hundred’s if not thousand’s over the past 25 years.  If a team has a good pep club or spirit squad, they are going to ridicule every player from the other team.  That is what it’s all about.  It is part of trying to get into the head of the opponent.  It is something that will give your team an advantage and hopefully lead them on to victory.  Are we supposed to congratulate the opponent every time they make a basket or do something good?  I think and hope not!!  I don’t think there is anything wrong with letting a person know that they made a bad shot.  It happens all of the time.  It happened clear back when I was in basketball and it will continue to happen.  As a player, it ought to provide you with a little bit of motivation to work harder and play better.
