Send us your story

Woodward, Okla. — Everyone remembers the early morning hours of April 15, 2012.

That's when a deadly tornado ripped through Woodward, killing 6 people and destroying or damaging hundreds of homes and businesses.

As the first anniversary of that tornado approaches, the Woodward News would like to hear your memories and thoughts of that night and the recovery that in some ways still continues today.

What is your most vivid memory of the tornado?

Since the outdoor sirens were knocked out, if you received a warning, how did you get it? A Facebook post? Did you happen to be up watching television? Did someone call you? Did you have a weather radio?

If you weren't home at the time, where were you when the tornado hit? If you were home without access to a shelter, how did you ride out the storm?

How did the tornado change your habits? Have you since purchased weather radios or other warning devices? Have you added a shelter to your home, or set up a plan to go to a shelter in your neighborhood?

How do you react when you hear thunder?

Do you feel like you are now more prepared should another tornado come along?

We would like to hear from you and we want to hear your story - long or short.

You can e-mail us at editor@woodwardnews.net or send a letter to Woodward News, 904 Oklahoma Ave., Woodward OK 73801.

Again, we would like to hear from anyone who has a story or thoughts to share.
