From Emergency Management

Woodward City/County Emergency Management Director Matt Lehenbauer issued the following press release concerning needed supplies and assistance for the upcoming search and dig at the Woodward County Landfill for the body of Logan Tucker.

The Woodward City/County Emergency Management office has been tasked with providing support equipment to Woodward County emergency services agencies in the excavation project of the Woodward County Landfill. This project could take up to four to six weeks and will require the emergency management office to provide support equipment and sustenance for emergency services workers at the site. The office is working in conjunction with the Northwest Chapter of the American Red Cross in requesting donations for the following items:

The community may assist by providing sealed, bottled water, which can be dropped off at the American Red Cross, 1209 9th St. in Woodward, or at the Woodward Police Department after hours at 1220 9th St. Monetary donations to go toward the purchase of food, water and supplies may be made as well.

Local businesses may assist in a number of ways. Lunch will be provided to emergency workers each day that they are on site. Restaurants wanting to assist are asked to sponsor one or more of those meals. Corporate donations of needed supplies will also be accepted and are tax-deductible contributions. Those supplies include: Hard hats, power-generating flashlights, gloves, fold-up camp-style shovels, camp-style cooking utensils (mess kits), and fold-up camp chairs. Corporate loans/donations of A.T.V.s’/off-road vehicles are needed (ATV’s are widely used for manhunts, searches, firefighting, etc. and are direly needed by the emergency management office) as well as light-stands for night-time excavation. In addition tax-deductible corporate donations will be accepted.

Note that all donations are tax-deductible and 100 percent of monetary donations will go directly towards support of this project. Many of the items listed here can be re-used for future emergency incidents and will be retained by the emergency management office for such use by emergency service agencies in Northwest Oklahoma.

Companies interested in assisting with this project should contact the Woodward City/County Emergency Management office at 580-254-0896.
