Worley-Bryant named Academic All-State

Woodward High School senior Lora Worley-Bryant boasts a 4.0 grade point average, a score of 31 on the ACT and involvement in many organizations.
Now Worley-Bryant has one more thing to be proud of.
Worley-Bryant has been named one of 100 students in Oklahoma to receive the title of Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Academic All-State Scholar.
“I was really dumbfounded,” said Worley-Bryant. “Because I didn’t think there was any chance of me getting Academic All-State.”
The statement seems quite modest when Worley-Bryant’s qualifications are considered.
Aside from her high grade point average and ACT score Worley-Bryant also has received the Golden “W” award, is named in Who’s Who Among American High School Students, is an academic letterman, and received the title of Varsity Scholar. She also was in the top 5 percent of ACT’s PLAN program in math, reading, science and composite score.
Worley-Bryant’s high school extracurricular and community activities include National Dance Alliance Special Event Award, National Student Leadership Conference, Congressional Student Leadership Conference, Nomination to National Leadership Forum in Technology, National Honor Society, Students Teaching AIDS to Youth, Pep Club, Art Club, WHS Dance Team, Prom Committee, Miss Woodward Committee, Float Committee, Miss Woodward stage crew, Angel Tree Family Christmas Sponsor, Toy Drive Volunteer, 5k Run for Shelter volunteer, Woodward Main Street Association Hamburger Feed volunteer, Woodward Main Street Association Centennial Celebration volunteer, Food Pantry donor, Coat Drive donor, Locks of Love donor, OBI blood donor and Thanksgiving Food Drive donor.
Even with the lengthy list of accomplishments Worley-Bryant said, “I really didn’t think I would win.”
The Academic All-State Scholar award comes with a $2,000 scholarship.
Worley-Bryant plans to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she would like to major in entrepreneurship.
“I want to get into real estate and flipping houses,” said Worley-Bryant who hopes to someday own her own business buying, remodeling and selling houses.
While Worley-Bryant is successful at every subject in school her favorite is English.
“After Mrs. McDonald’s class I just got really good at writing essays and analyzing stuff,” said Worley-Bryant.
Worley-Bryant is the daughter of William and Shelly Worley and the wife of Kyle Bryant.
